Shwmae/Hello, I’m Miriam.
I am an independent filmmaker and photographer based in Cardiff, Wales. With a background rooted in documentary and adventure storytelling, my work thrives on capturing raw, unfiltered moments, whether that’s in the stillness of the natural world or the high-energy chaos of a live music venue.
I've studied Adventure Filmmaking (Wales) and Marine & Natural History Photography (Cornwall), alongside international film studies in Norway. This background heavily shapes my visual style, fusing a documentarian’s eye with a love for experimental, heavily-grained vintage film aesthetics, double exposures, and bold composition.
My dedication to visual storytelling has earned recognition throughout my career. I am proud to have had my photography exhibited at iconic venues such as the Wales Millennium Centre and the Norwegian Church in Cardiff Bay, alongside being honored with multiple national awards for my documentary work.
Back Behind the Lens
A Quick Personal Note: In August 2025, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. I had to step away from the camera for a bit to focus on treatment, but I am incredibly grateful to say I am now back up, running, and completely focused on what I love most and bringing a renewed energy and perspective to every project I touch. I no longer have the long hair you can see in my profile picture, but I am currently rocking some short hairstyles or wigs:)
Let's Work Together
I am currently based in Cardiff (and fluent in Welsh / Siaradwr Cymraeg), but I am fully available for commissions and travel.
I am actively expanding my live music portfolio and am seeking press passes, tour packages, and live music commissions for local and touring acts. I pride myself on a fast, industry-standard turnaround time to ensure your galleries or promo materials are delivered when they matter most.
Whether you are a band manager looking for a unique, experimental look for your tour, an outdoor brand needing an adventure filmmaker, or an editor looking for a reliable local shooter, let’s chat.
