BIO & CONTACT
I'm Miriam Hughes, an independent filmmaker and photographer from West Wales, with a passion for visual storytelling. I focus primarily on documentaries but am available for all commissions.
Since 2015, I've been professionally dedicated to photography, capturing the beauty in every moment, from serene landscapes to candid portraits that reveal raw emotion. While I find inspiration in a wide variety of settings, my work often explores the natural world and human connections to it.
I’ve studied Adventure Filmmaking in Wales and Marine and Natural History Photography in Cornwall, both of which have shaped my creative approach. In 2023, I spent six months in Norway, where I furthered my studies in Multicamera Production, Outdoor Media, and Film History. This international experience deepened my understanding of the film industry and allowed me to explore new methods of visual storytelling.
While photography is my first love, filmmaking has become a significant part of my artistic journey. My films aim to resonate emotionally and culturally, shedding light on untold stories and amplifying voices that often go unheard. You can explore my work on my YouTube channel.
Driven by a passion for the outdoors, I constantly seek to understand the historical and cultural ties between humans and nature. This curiosity shapes much of my work, as I strive to not only capture moments but also convey the deeper connections we share with the environment around us.
My dedication has earned recognition, with my work being exhibited at venues such as the Wales Millennium Centre, and I have been honored with several awards throughout my career.
